    Since 2001 Friedrich Becker has always been rated as “Best German Red Wine maker” by “Gault Millau” the leading annual German Wine Guide. In 2010 his Pinot Noir 2007 was rated with 97 points. From this wine only 9 barrique barrels were made. His top wine the “Hommage” is not rated, because only one barrel was produced and it will be only given to friends of Friedrich Becker.

    The only restaurant and shop you can get it worldwide is MAGMA.

    Becker does not only produce excellent PINOT NOIR, but also RIESLING, PINOT BLANC and BLENDS.The estate is located in the commune of Schweigen (Südliche Weinstrasse district) in the Pfalz wine-growing region in Germany.

    The estate has been bottling and marketing its own wines since 1973. The vineyard area totals 14 hectares in the Sonnenberg (Schweigen) site, in the sub-sites Kammerberg and Worberg. Parts of the vineyards are located across the border in Alsace. Varieties planted here are Pinot Noir (4,9 ha), Riesling (3 ha), Pinot Blanc (1,8 ha), Pinot Gris (1,2 ha), Chardonnay (0,4 ha), Portugieser (0,8 ha), Silvaner (0,8 ha), Pinot Meunier (0,7 ha), Auxerrois (0,7 ha), Gewürztraminer (0,2 ha) and Merlot (0,1 ha). Useful insects such as ladybugs, flor flies and others are used in the vineyards to control pests in a sustainable manner. The vines are heavily pruned to significantly restrict the yield. The wines are made and matured either in stainless steel tanks or in oak barrels, depending on the variety and site. The red wines are fermented on the skins in open vats. Particularly suitable, full-bodied white and red wines are matured in barriques. Spirits as well as bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.

    The estate is a member of the VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitäts-Weingüter) association, and of the "5 Winzer 5 Freunde" association.
